The *Alcoa African American Committee* (AAC) *Leadership Scholarship is an
award of $1,000.00, with the possibility of renewal.* Four scholarships will
be awarded for the 2008-2009 school year. Each award will be paid as a lump
sum directly to scholarship recipients.
Scholarships may be renewed each year of college if the scholarship
recipient:
• is enrolled in an approved engineering, technical, business or finance
major
• maintains a minimum GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale
• participates in a paid summer internship with Alcoa Davenport Works

Scholarship Criteria
* The Alcoa AAC Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to a traditionally
underrepresented student who has demonstrated academic merit, leadership and
community involvement. Applicants must:
• be a high school senior in the Quad Cities Area,
• have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, and
• be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident.
Prior to receiving scholarship funds, scholarship recipients will be
required to submit a letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment at a two-
or four-year accredited institution.

Completed Application
* A completed application includes:
1. An official high school transcript
2. Two recommendations
a. One of which is academic
b. One of which is for community service
3. Resume
4. Completed AAC Leadership Scholarship Questionnaire
Individual items may be sent separately. However, completed application
packages must be received by April 25, 2008. A panel of judges will review
the applications and an interview may be required to make the final
selection. Scholarship finalist will be notified by June 13, 2008.
