The Earth Charter is a declaration of fundamental principles for building a
just, sustainable, and peaceful global society in the 21st Century.

Utilizing music, arts, enlightened speakers, workshops, panel and discussion
groups, the Quad City Earth Charter Summit will bring people together to
raise awareness, provide education and encourage actions to implement Earth
Charter principles.
Presenters:

*Dr. Lucy Slinger, FSPA* - Lucy brings an eclectic professional background
that is a blend of agriculture, ecology and education. Since joining the
Franciscan community in 2001, she has pursued study in Franciscan theology,
spirituality and cosmology. Her doctorate degree included both the life-long
education of teachers and the curriculum and instruction of K-12 science
with an environmental education emphasis.

*Chad Pregracke* - Chad raises the bar on leadership, motivating others
through his infectious positive outlook and incomparable sense of humor.

Chad Pregracke, is living, breathing proof that one person can make a
difference .

*Betty Daugherty, FSPA* - Betty is involved as a presenter and planner for a
variety of programs and retreats at Prairiewoods: Franciscan Sprituality
Center <http://www.prairiewoods.org/index.asp>. She provides spiritual
direction and arranges private directed retreat opportunities for
individuals.
*Chuck Jacobsen* - Chuck works as an interpretive naturalist for the Clinton
County Conservation Board

important part of his life - bringing many gifts to him
and those he loves. His only instructor, an old classical guitar, has served
him well for more than 32 years. Chuck's early inspiration came through the
music of John Denver and his latest from Peter Meyer of Minnesota.

 *Marie Christian* received a Masters Degree from Western Illnois University
in Speech-Language Pathology. She is an adjunct professor at the Kahl
Education Center ( Scott Community College). She currently serves as project
director for RICCA'S Juvenile Justice grant (Project Achievement). Marie
believes that education is the key to personal empowerment.

 *Tim Kautza *- is an environmental specialist for the National Catholic
Rural Life Conference <http://www.ncrlc.com/>. With 25 years of soil and
water conservation experience, Tim has been working on ways to address
environmental problems resulting from factory farming techniques. He has
coordinated a coalition of grassroots advocacy organizations in Iowa,
including Iowa Interfaith Power and
Light<http://www.ncrlc.com/IIPandL-webpage.html>- a joint initiative
of the Muslim, Christian, Jewish and other faith
communities to mitigate global climate change.


*Cathy Bolkcom *- founded a QC grassroots citizens' group called
Progressive Action for the Common Good, motivated to organize and empower
all like-minded people in the Quad Cities to reclaim our democracy.
PACG<http://qcprogressiveaction.org/>takes action on a whole range of
issues, including the war, economic
justice, health care reform, civil rights organizing, media reform, the
environment and energy issues and reclaiming moral values and questions of
faith from a progressive point of view.



*Fr. Bud Grant* received his PhD degree from the University of Iowa,
specializing in environmental ethics. He teaches ethics at St.
Ambrose<http://web.sau.edu/envstudies/faculty.htm>University in
Davenport, Iowa, and is advisor to two campus organizations:
GREENLIFE - an environmental club and PAX - a social justice group. Also a
"Master Naturalist" instructor and a consultant on environmental issues, Fr.
Grant believes in the need to educate the community to become informed
advocates and responsible participants in sustainable environmental
practices in which all creation flourishes.
