HEALTH CARE REFORM--everyone's talking about it, but if you live in Iowa,
you can DO something about it. The caucuses will be here before we know it,
and we need to be ready to move this issue forward when we walk into our
caucus sites on Jan. 3. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend a
caucus training with a special emphasis on "Quality, Affordable Health Care
for All." Organized by Iowa for Health Care, the training will start at 1
PM on Friday, November 30, 2007, at the Bettendorf Public Library, 2950
Learning Campus Drive and should be finished no later than 3 PM.
The training will have 3 main parts:
1. General information about how the caucus process works in a presidential
election year. No matter how many, or how few, times you've caucused
before, this training will help make caucus night a rewarding experience in
grassroots democracy.
2. Explanation of the "Resolution on Health Care for All" prepared by Iowa
for Health Care. There will be detailed training on how to present this
resolution in YOUR caucus, what happens to resolutions after caucus night,
and why resolutions are important.
3. Information about and discussion of how you can continue to advocate for
quality, affordable health care for all. This part of the event will
address both how to work for putting a health care reform candidate in the
White House as well as how you can work on the issue here in Iowa, where
a commission convened by the legislature is actively looking at major health
care reform.
Coffee will be served.
