Join the coalition and help support passenger rail service from Chicago to
the QC!
The vision of *QC Rail* is passenger rail service from the Quad Cities to
Chicago. We are an advocacy group supporting local, state and federal
governmental agencies in how to best implement this service between the Quad
Cities and Chicago.
We believe that a rail connection from Chicago to the Quad Cities is only
the beginning. Connecting to Iowa City, Des Moines and Omaha is a feasible
venture and the Iowa Department of Transportation has already requested
Amtrak to conduct route feasibility studies for continuing service.
*Help Fund Passenger Rail – Contact **Y**our Legislators*
The Illinois General Assembly is considering a $25 billion Capital Bill that
will fund construction, transportation, and infrastructure projects. This
funding is typically available once every 5 to 10 years. We need your help
ensuring that Illinois funds $45 million for Amtrak passenger rail service
from Chicago to the Quad Cities.
The Senate version of the Capital Bill passed a few weeks ago *did not
include* funding specifically for the Quad Cities' Amtrak service. We thank
our State Representatives, Pat Verschoore and Mike Boland, who have
requested funding for the Quad Cities in the House Capital Bill. QC Rail
continues to work with House members, led by Rep. Nekritz and Rep. Moffitt,
who are proposing $1.3 billion in House version of the Capital Bill for
passenger rail service.
Contact your State Representatives to let them know it's your priority for
Illinois to pass a Capital Bill with $45 million for the Quad Cities/Chicago
Amtrak route. Don't live in Illinois? You can still help by letting
Illinois legislators know how valuable this service is to the entire Quad
Cities and that you look forward to using this service.
When contacting legislators, remember to let them know you're a member of
the *Quad Cities Passenger Rail Coalition*!
To learn more and access all the contact information for your legislators go
