If you or anyone you know would be willing to write a letter sharing a
personal story relating to healthcare coverage for children, please email
your letter to Karen Metcalf at karencadfael at aol.com by next Tuesday, March
6th. The letter can be from a personal experience or can be from a
professional perspective based on involvement around this issue. We will be
printing the letters and delivering them to our congressional and senate
offices locally and faxing them to the prospective offices in DC.
Once again, the Budget Committees of both the House and Senate are going to
be making decisions early in March about how much funding goes into the
State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
We need YOU to call your Senators and Representatives to let them know that
we need *at least $60 billion in new money* for the program over the next
five years.
*Call Congress, toll-free:1-800-828-0498*
PLEASE DO IT TODAY!
The Next PACG Health Care Reform Forum:
The next meeting of the PACG Health Care Reform Forum will be Tuesday, March
6, 2007, at the Unitarian Church. NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIME: WE WILL MEET AT
6 PM. We have quite a lot of activity to report on, both at the state level
(Iowa in particular) and nationally. Our main business item will be
planning our local activities for this year's Cover the Uninsured Week
(early this year, in April).
The first part of the meeting will be in the downstairs lounge, where we
will be previewing a DVD about the TennCare cuts. The plan is to show this
DVD during Cover the Uninsured Week as part of a national campaign--this
showing will be for those who want to be involved in the planning process,
but others will have the opportunity to watch and discuss it in April.
After we preview the film we will move upstairs to the Board Room to
continue our event planning, which will also involve some kind of
action/activity related to the impending reauthorization of the S-CHIP
program. If planning for these events sounds like something in which you'd
like to be involved, please join us on Tuesday. April will be here before we
know it, and we can use all the help that people can provide!
