Friends,
Tune in to Channel 4 News at 5 to learn more about our letter / photo
petition delivery to Congressman Braley's office today - sponsored by
MoveOn, PACG and DFA-Quad Cities.
Constituents held up signs that said "Congress is the Decider - Iraq
Escalation = Wrong Direction" and others that said, "Congressman Braley is
the Decider." Our photo petition delivery was also on display - a must see -
thank you Dave & Carol Brown for your help putting it together -- and of
course to our Creative Leader, Alta Price, for taking all of the pictures!
Braley's Staff reiterated Congressman Braley's position against escalation
and ogoing efforts to bring our troops home. Alta Price and John Downing
were both interviewed by Channel 4 and Dick Fallow gave a moving and
eloquent statement on the importance of ending the US occupation of Iraq.
Kriss Wells reminded us that, "Escalation is wrong because the war itself is
wrong - we never should have been there in the first place." Joan Anderson
with MoveON brought home made cookies for Braley's staff to thank them for
giving up their lunch hour to receive us - the cookies were delicious! ;-)
This was a great event... stayed tuned for details on upcoming visits to
Congresman Phil Hare's office sometime next week, as well as to the offices
of Senators Grassley and Harkin in Davenport and Senator Obama in Moline. If
you are available to participate in and/or assist with the upcoming site
visits, please contact Caroline ASAP 563-676-7580.
Congressman Braley will be at his Congressional office "Open House" tomorrow
from noon to 2pm, so make it a point to stop by and let him know what's on
your mind.
Peace,
Caroline Vernon
