MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19th:
Environmental / Energy Forum - 7pm:
Hello Group...Our next meeting is tonight at 7pm at the Davenport Unitarian
Church, 3707 Eastern Ave. It has started to warm up, so time to get out
again --
We will bring you up to date on the proposed hog slaughterhouse, discuss our
Earth Day display (think TREES ) and continue with global warming
discussions. Wayne Sapp will not be able to attend this week to discuss his
Alaskan trip and show a cd of his pictures, but he will join us Monday,
March 5th.

We meet tonight at 7pm at the Metro Comm Church-30th and Harrison St in
Davenport.

QC-AIR (Quad Cities Alliance of Immigrants & Refugees):
Good News - the weather looks good, and we are still on for the Tuesday
QCAIR meeting.
We are still meeting in East Moline 6:30pm to 8:00pm
First Christian Church, 3501 7th St,East Moline --Enter on lower level,
north door
We are meeting at this location in East Moline for the first time and hope
the residents in the surrounding neighborhoods feel welcome to join us.
Please pass along to others you know that we are an open, welcoming group.
In particular we hope students from East Moline Township High School, their
families and Latino Unidos groups will attend. Your dedication to human
rights and making the Quad Cities a better place to live is inspiring, in
the midst of our busy schedules. Please make every effort to attend this

In celebration of Black History Month, the Urban Professionals Group of the
Quad Cities (UPG – QC) in collaboration with chief sponsor, Palmer College's
Student American Black Chiropractic Association and the Student Services
Department, extend an invitation to a dynamic and introspective experience
featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Leonard Pitts Jr.,
Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Room W210 in West Hall on Palmer's
Davenport Campus. Admission is free and open to the public. Parking is
available on Main Street in front of the West Hall entrance or in College
parking lots.
The mission of The UPG – QC is to provide a conduit for engagement of social
consciousness & community empowerment, foster progressive ideas & thought,
facilitate in the development, recruitment & retainment of talent &

efforts to create photos petitions around the issues that we all care about,

Braley's office. Illinois particpants will be delivering their photo
petitions to Congressman Hare's office as well - still looking for a

Goals and Objectives: Educate Legislators on Immigration Issue
Provide Accurate and Reliable Immigration Information
This is a two part conference where we will have an opportunity to learn
what is happening in the country, and in particular in our region of the
country regarding immigration. Current law, new laws being proposed, and
also what is actually happening as opposed to what is legal. It will benefit
all of us in the Quad Cities and Iowa/Illinois residents.

Healing Waters for Domestic Violence: I Will Carry My Sister's Pain - 6:30pm
A highly recommended dramatic performance, based on interviews with women
who survived and recovered their power after being victimized by domestic
violence, written and directed by Shellie Moore Guy and performed by local
African American women, will be presented Friday, February 23rd at the
Martin Luther King Center in Rock Island at 6:30 p.m.
The performance will benefit the children of LaShaune Wright who was killed
by her ex-boyfriend on New Year's Day in Rock Island.
