Health Care for Kids Call-In Day is TODAY!!
Ask Congress to reauthorize SCHIP and preserve Medicaid funding!
Call Toll-Free at 1-877-509-KIDS
>From Families USA:
By now you probably know that there are over 9 million uninsured children in
this country. Nearly three quarters of them are eligible for SCHIP or
Medicaid today, but they aren't enrolled in either program. Unless Congress
is willing to let the SCHIP program die this year, it must reauthorize it.
This gives us an excellent opportunity to make real progress towards
comprehensive, affordable, high-quality health coverage for all children.
Covering America's children should be a top priority for Congress in 2007.
Here are some ways to get involved in the weeks ahead:
The Campaign for Children's for Health Care and the Catholic Health
Association of the United States invite you to join your colleagues for an
important advocacy call-in day on Tuesday, February 13th. Use this toll-free
number to call your members of Congress:
Call Congress, toll-free: 1-877-509-KIDS
What do I say when I call?
Today, SCHIP provides high quality, comprehensive, affordable health
coverage to more than 4 million children who would otherwise be uninsured.
These children get access to vital health care services they would not
otherwise be able to afford.
Congress must ensure that there is enough money to at least get the children
who are already eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP enrolled. To do this, states
will need approximately $50-$60 billion in new federal funds over the next
five years.
No child should lose health coverage because of a shortage of federal funds.
The $50-60 billion includes funding to ensure that no child who is enrolled
in SCHIP today--and who continues to be eligible--will lose coverage because
of a shortfall in federal funds.
