Report on Health Care Reform from Washington, D.C.
Want to be in touch with the latest thinking and information about
what's happening on the health care activist scene around the country?
Then come to the next meeting of the PACG Health Care Reform Forum on
Tuesday, February 6, 7 PM at the Unitarian Church (Board Room, upstairs) in
Davenport. Dr. Alta Price and I will be reporting on our recent trip to the
FamiliesUSA Conference in Washington. This was an exciting and stimulating
opportunity to hear the country's top health care activists, and some of the
key politicians on the national scene (including Senators Barak Obama and
Ted Kennedy), talk about issues such as Medicare Part D, health
care disparities (racial, socio-economic, geographical, etc.) and health
care coverage for children. As well, there was a report on messaging the
goal of "quality affordable health care for all" and a session on
working with the faith community on this issue. Even if you're not an active
member of this forum, this is a great opportunity to learn about what's
happening--GOOD AND BAD--on this key domestic issue.
Hope to see you there!
