Members of the PACG Health Care Reform Forum appreciate all the effort that
the PACG Peace Forum has put into setting up a private meeting with
Congressman Braley, and it sounds like it will be a good session tomorrow.
Because his time is limited, the Health Care Reform Forum was not able to
arrange for a comparable meeting with those of us who want to talk
specifically about health care, but at our last Forum meeting, we did
discuss approaching the Congressman about health care issues at his new
"Congress on the Corner" sessions (listed below). We encourage everyone to
raise issues of health care reform with Congressman Braley (or, if you don't
live in the First Iowa District, whoever your member of Congress might be)
at every opportunity. We specifically ask you to impress upon members of
Congress the need to reauthorize the SCHIP program--at the increased level
approved by the House--even though it is likely to require an override of a
Presidential veto. Many, many children and their families absolutely need
this program that helps them get the health care they need.

If any of you can join me, I will be hoping to talk to the Congressman, this
afternoon in LeClaire, about some of most recent developments related to the
SCHIP reauthorization; I also hope to acquaint him with some basic
principles for health care reform that have been prepared by Working
Families Win.

Please make an effort to come to one of these public sessions--whatever your
issue, our democracy only works if we make our voices heard!

Karen Metcalf
