 Monday, August 13th:

 PACG Peace Forum members will be gathering in the Lounge of the Davenport
Unitarian Church at 5:30pm this evening to preview the first in a series
recently acquired war-related documentaries to be used as part of our
awareness raising, community education campaign. You are welcome to join us!


Tuesday, August 14th:

PACG Young Leaders Forum welcomes you to join us at 6:00pm, St Ambrose
University, Hayes Bldg (near the Chapel), Room 111

This forum continues to work on plans for the upcoming  Back-to-School Bash
and Young leaders Conference which will be at Scott Community College on
September 29th.
We need lots of volunteers to help make this a 1st class event! We will be
working on preparing our promotional materials, workshop development, and
finalizing entertainment for this exciting event. Please join us!

 Thursday, August 16th:

Davenport Peace Vigil - 4:30 to 5:30pm

Join PACG Peace Forum members and others in our community who continue to
speak out for peace and help bring an end to this war. This group of
peaceful protesters have been standing vigil at this location for a year and
a half now, regardless of the weather, often during extreme temperatures...
Please join us!! Signs are available for you to hold at the site or bring
your own. The Thursday Peace Vigil is always from 4:30 to 5:30pm, on the
corner of E 53rd St and Corporate Row Dr in Davenport - in front of the
Texas Roadhouse restaurant near the cinemas.

Invitation to Bird-Dogging Training

Have you ever wished the political candidates would talk about issues that
matter to you?
Have you ever wanted to ask a candidate a question but never known how to do
it?
Would you like to get together with other people who answer these questions
the same way you did? If so...

CHAIN (Community HIV/Hepatitis Advocates of Iowa Network)
Invites you to a training on Thursday, August 16th
6:00-8:00 pm

Davenport Unitarian Church
3707 Eastern Ave., Davenport, IA
Community Room

This training will provide you with specifics on how to get ask the
questions you want answered by a technique called Bird-dogging as taught by
a national expert in the technique. This is an effective way to use our
voices to get answers from policy makers. We have a unique opportunity to
talk with candidates and other representatives of all parties and to get the
issues we care about on to the national agenda.

There is more work to be done, and we are asking for your help. Refreshments
will be provided during the meeting. To RSVP or if you have any questions

August Social Justice Movie Night feature:
Shocking & Awful - a grassroots response to War and Occupation

Shocking and awful is the way many people view the current situation in Iraq
and the United States. The war continues to take its toll on Iraqi
civilians, international aid workers, journalists and US troops. here at
home we are seeing how living in a state of "perpetual war" is affected our
own lives as well.

 Moline Peace Vigil: 11am - Noon

It will be 2 years in October that Caryn Unsicker initiated the first
Saturday peace vigil. Our presence there continues to grow as more and more
citizens are standing up and speaking out for peace. Please join us  - we
gather every Saturday from 11am to noon on the corner of John Deere Rd and
16th St - in front of Best Buy, across from Southpark Mall.
