*From PACG ENvironmental Leader Molly Regan mjregan at mchsi.com*
*
Please make plans to attend the Thursday, May 3rd session of the Scott
County Board of Supervisors meeting at 530 pm. *
**
*It is held on the first floor of the Bicentennial Building at W 4th
St.andWestern Ave in Davenport
*.
*On the agenda: Public input regarding the latest building request for an
increase of hogs in confinement in Lincoln Township/Section 4/Claussen*.
This is part of the beginning of the large numbers of these that will
continue across Scott County as well as Clinton & Cedar & other counties in
Iowa. Illinois will also suffer the same fate, Our state laws are a bit
more strict, but not much.
It is too bad the Iowa House did not discuss bill 873. It was never
brought to the floor for discussion. Too many people were scared of it: 27
pages of much needed reform regarding siting distances of animal
confinements from schools, churches, recreation areas as well as other specific
regulations.
Governor Culver had said he wanted something on his desk he could sign
regarding CAFO's. There is now nothing. Next year will be too late for
those living close to the ones that will come along this year.
*Let your voice be heard on May 3rd to the board....Thank you .Molly Regan*
