Clarification on Wal-Mart Demonstration:

Friends,

We had hoped to have a simultaneous demonstration at the Silvis post office
in Illinois, but today is election day in Silvis (Good Luck Caryn Unsicker)
and we thought it best to herald our resources and manpower for the sake of
media attention.

In addition, the time has changed from noon to 12:30pm... I hope many of you
are able to join us over the lunch hour today in order to make a statement
about Wal-Mart needing to pay their taxes like the rest of us.

Yesterday, Forbes reported that Wal-Mart passed Exxon Mobil as the world's
number 1 money-maker... yet they are unwilling to provide AFFORDABLE
healthcare to many of their employees and now we see how they are employing
dishonest tactics to escape their corporate tax obligations.  It is up to us
as citizens to counter the injustice and greed that the world's largest
corporation has seemingly implemented as a matter of policy.

As you may know, another Wal-Mart will be coming into Silvis, across from
the Jewel Osco (say goodbye Jewel) and they intend to move into Rock Island
as well. Next month, Corporate Reformers will be organizing another showing
of Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price, among the business communities of
Rock Island and SIlvis, Illinois. It is our hope that the small business who
will have everything to lose when Wal-Mart comes to town will lead the
charge in this fight to save Main street. if you are interested in helping
with this effort please let me know.

Before long, we'll just be calling Wal-Mart "the Store" because it will be
the only one left.
