BUILDING A HOG CONFINEMENT LESS THAN A MILE FROM A SCHOOL IS  A MORTAL SIN
IN MY BOOK.  IT IS ASSININE.  Even if there is no IOWA law prohibiting THIS
SEPARATION DISTANCE.  THE LAND LEASER JOHN MAXWELL & THE HOG OWNER TOM
DITTMER HAVE NO REGARD FOR CHILDREN.  THIS IS TOTALLY ABOUT MONEY, MONEY,
MONEY AND CONTROL OVER THE COMMUNITY WHO APPEARS DAZED & HELPLESS.

THE ASTHMA RATES WILL INCREASE FOR THOSE WHO SMELL THE ODORS COMING FROM THE
NEIGHBORING CONFINEMENT.  THOSE WHO WORK IN CONFINEMENTS HAVE A SOMEWHAT
HIGHER TOLERANCE FOR THE SMELLS, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THE PARTICULATES &
HYDROGEN SULFIDE & AMMONIA DON'T AFFECT THEM.

THE *COMMONS* THAT WE ARE ALL ENTITLED TO BY JUST BEING ALIVE, JUST
BEING HUMAN, INCLUDE THE AIR, WATER, AND EARTH.  THESE ARE FOR ALL TO ENJOY,
NOT TO BE DENIED TO CHILDREN, NOT TO BE STOLEN BY GREED AND DOMINATED BY
THOSE WITH MORE MONEY.

THESE CONFIINEMENTS WILL EVENTUALLY AFFECT EVERYONE IN THE COUNTY IN ONE WAY
OR THE ANOTHER. SEMIS LOADED WITH HOGS WILL BE COMING TO A HIGHWAY NEAR
YOU.  THEIR WASTE WILL BE DEPOSITED ALONG THE ROUTES. THINK THEY CAN HOLD
IT?

PLEASE BRING PEOPLE WHO YOU KNOW HAVE NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS
PENDING DISASTER TO OUR MONDAY MEETING: April 9th, 7pm at the Davenport
Unitarian Church.

Also, Please contact the AG committee members on HF 873 which addresses this
very issue and ask them to support this bill and get it out to the floor for
a vote! It seems that the 'local control" portion of this bill may kill the
entire bill, so ask them to strip that out, if need be, in order to pass the
rest of the requirments on CAFOs within the bill. For contact info and more
